A STRIKING new sculpture by award-winning Malvern sculptor Caro Sweet has been selected for the prestigious Birmingham Open Art Show.
Entitled Rider, the work is one of a series of limited edition sculptures in bronze which explore movement and man's relationship with the natural environment. Rider is a contemporary piece inspired, according to the sculptor, by the movement of fern leaves in the wind.
"I grabbed my sketch book and then got to work in clay with the shapes and feelings the image evoked," explained Caro.
Caro's sculpture can be seen at Gas Hall at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery between February 10 and April 29. Admission to the exhibition is free. For more information on Caro Sweet's work visit her website at www.carosweet.com.
