Blot on our town

What has happened to our once lovely town of Evesham? There are so many areas that I see on my daily shop, where there is lots of litter, in the hedges , along footpaths and I could go on and on, Do street cleaners no longer exist? Past

From the archives - February 8, 2007

100 Years Ago February 9, 1907 The hard weather returned at the end of the week, and excellent skating was indulged in on Saturday and Sunday. At Ragley and Northwick the ice was in capital conditions, particularly on Sunday, and a great number also went to Pirton. On Sunday the Avon bore well in places near Evesham, and a considerable number tested it. A few of the more venturesome paid the penalty of too great temerity and got wet clothes, but fortunately there were no fatalities, though there were two or three narrow escapes. It was evident on Sunday afternoon that the frost had not come to stay, and in the evening snow commenced to fall. This was succeeded by a rapid thaw on Monday and Tuesday, but since then the frost has set in again, though with much less severity.  more...
