ANOTHER Worcestershire artist is hoping his World Cup anthem will take the nation by storm as the country begins to get gripped with football fever.
Bruno Gallone, aged 43, from Bretforton, has recorded his own song entitled Forever England and has already received plenty of coverage to support the uplifting anthem.
The tune has been played on BBC Five Live and is one of a number of songs involved in a poll on radio channel Talksport, in a battle to become the unofficial England World Cup song.
Mr Gallone follows Worcester punk band Blind Granny's Taxi Nightmare in penning a football tune, which he hopes will be the backdrop to victory in the World Cup, which begins in Germany next month.
Blind Granny's Taxi Nightmare have also received radio coverage with their song Hi-Ho Come on England, which is sung to the tune of Jeff Beck's Hi-Ho Silver Lining. The new version of the 1960s classic has also been played on Talksport as well as Virgin and Radio 1.
Mr Gallone now works as a director for a children's creative play product company, but used to be part of a band called Reaction that supported bands like Bananarama, Secret Affair and The Jam.
After an extended break from music he decided to begin writing again after his wife bought him an acoustic guitar. He said: "I first wrote the song last year for the Kaiser Chiefs to use, but they got back to me to say thanks but they would not be recording a World Cup song.
"So I ended up in a recording studio with my guitar making the record, which was never the plan, but it has turned out quite nicely."
After receiving air time on national radio, he admits that he has been pleased with some of the reviews.
He added: "It has been described as a bit JCB song and a bit Billy Bragg, which I think is a good thing. It is just an alternative to the official song by Embrace".
