Feel quite sad

I FEEL quite sad about what is happening to Droitwich. This town had so much character and history. Reading Peter Luff's letter (Feb 25) to suggest we have a parish poll regarding the lido is a joke. We had a parish vote to stop the Waitrose supermarket being built on the market site, it didn't get us anywhere.   more...

Come clean

WITH their lido vote Wychavon destroyed any last vestige of Droitwich Spa's unique identity. They now propose adding insult to injury by installing a sign saying Welcome to the Lido Park - at our expense! District councillors responsible should come clean for once, and make it read Building Plot For Sale.   more...

Time for UDI

THE vast majority of Droitwich residents would entirely agree with Councillor Peter Pinfield on his call to segregate ourselves from Wychavon: ie Evesham and Pershore.   more...

Shocked

I AM shocked, disgusted and dismayed by Wychavon District Council's lido decision. The public scrutiny committee held in our community hall was excellent. The chair person was honest and fair allowing as many residents as possible to have their say. But no one from the public was allowed to air their views at Wychavon's meeting.   more...

Lido poem

I WAS under no delusion that demolishing the lido was a foregone conclusion.   more...

Final word

AS a final word on the lido the reasons why SALT's proposals included an indoor ice rink and other amenities were due to conditions being placed on SALT at the very beginning by Mr Jennings of WDC.   more...

Parking

I HAVE read and totally agree with all the comments made in the local papers regarding the Droitwich Lido and the ineptitude of Wychavon Council.   more...

Election day

I NOTICED that Conservative Councillor Pam Davey is `looking ahead to the new improvements after the Spa lido is demolished' and implied that it is Wychavon which has come up with the new additions to the park, which we are told will include a ` a substantial water play area.'   more...

No one listens

HERE we go again. Droitwich people are being asked for their opinion on what we would do with the park and the intended demolished lido. How often have Droitwich people been asked to speak out, and after they did just that.... Wychavon totally ignores us and does what it plans to do in the first place.   more...

Patronising

I ATTENDED the meeting at Wychavon and I have to say the meeting was conducted in a patronising and demeaning way.   more...

Letters

A SHORT time ago one of our councillors wished to erect a clock tower in Droitwich at considerable expense to the taxpayer as I assume she was not prepared to donate the cost herself.   more...

Marketed

I HAVE read your article in the Advertiser this week with regard to the lido. I note that Wychavon District Council does not have any shortage of funds when it comes to the new Waitrose shop but when it comes to things that benefit everyone in Droitwich, they do not want to know.   more...

Rate payer

WHILE I sympathise with the people who wish to save the lido, we must seriously consider the cost to the rate payer and question how many people would benefit from this facility.   more...

Guilty of breathtaking hypocrisy

THE hypocrisy of WDC is breathtaking. The suggestion that if the people of Droitwich want this facility, then they alone should pay for it, is disgraceful. I am quite sure that funds generated by the ratepayers of Droitwich have contributed significantly to the Pershore Sports Centre, Pershore's new hospital and to the waterfront development in Evesham.   more...
