Road mystery

I travel from the M5 to the Malvern area five days a week at varying times. From the Carrington (new) bridge to the A449 roundabout is a gently curving road. The traffic starts off from the bridge at a reasonable pace but then, for no reason that I can think of it slows down, sometimes to a stop in the middle. It then quickens up towards the roundabout.
