Members were welcomed by their president Lynne Reading, then began their New Year's programme with a very interesting and factual talk by Paul Betterton on RMS Titanic. He even suggested the ship that went down might not have been the Titanic! Members had been asked to produce items for a bring and buy table in aid of the tsunami appeal, which raised £96. A similar table was manned by members at a coffee morning at Tardebigge Community Hall on January 17 when £114 was made. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 8, at 7.45pm when the talk will be on Witley Court gardens and cellars.   more...

JULIE Emms, aged 14, had turned her bedroom at her parents home in Mount Lane, Fairfield, into a shrine to the popular TV series Star Trek. The walls were covered in pictures of Captain Kirk and crew of the Enterprise and she belonged to four clubs and regularly travelled long distances to attend conventions. Stories about her passion for the programme had been published and she hoped eventually to run her own club and magazine.   more...
