ROALD Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory opens at Malvern Cinema today (Friday). The new film version of the much-loved children's book stars Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka and tells the story of young Charlie Bucket and his trip to Wonka's famous chocolate factory. Open-air jazz

An open-air jazz concert takes place at Hellens, Much Marcle, on Saturday (August 6). Peter Lay's Gambit Jazzmen will play New Orleans-style jazz in aid of the Herefordshire branch of the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen's Families Association- Forces Help (SSAFA). Fans are invited to bring their own picnics and chairs. Gates open at 6pm and the show starts at 7.30pm. Inquest opens on builder

AN inquest has been opened into the death of a builder who apparently died after a fall. John Uzzell, aged 71, of Gardens Close, Upton-upon-Severn, was found at the foot of the stairs in his home. He died of internal head injuries on Wednesday, July 20, in Coventry's Walgrave Hospital, where he had been transferred from Worcester. Worcestershire coroner Victor Round adjourned the inquest to a later date.   more...
