Host of Angels at tiny church

From the archive, first published Thursday 8th Apr 2004.

OVER 100 Angels are arriving at the little church of St Nicholas, Earls Croome.

The vibrant and colourful figures form a unique exhibition portraying nearly two thousand years of Angels in art and the variety of form, costume and rich decoration featured will amaze visitors.

The Host of Angels Experience started life in the village of Lenton in Lincolnshire as a Millennium Project. It was so popular that villagers at Earls Croome asked if they could stage the exhibition to raise much-needed funds for their church.

The exhibition was opened by the Bishop of Worcester, the Rt. Rev. Dr Peter Selby and is open on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 2pm to 5pm until September 29. A donation of £2.50 per person is sought.

The collection of Angels was created by internationally known artist Roger Heaton and his wife, Liz.
