THE Saint James's Singers will be performing a unique concert with the Corelli Orchestra in Stratford this Easter.
The singers say their performance of Handel's Messiah will not only be exceptional because the choir is suited to the Baroque oratorio, but because the orchestra will be playing in period style, on period instruments and at authentic pitch, a sound which has not been heard before in Stratford.
Julian Harris, conductor and founder, said: "This will be a ground-breaking experience in that not only are we using authentic instruments for the first time, but that Palm Sunday is truly the authentic night to perform this work."
The choir and orchestra will be joined by four young soloists - soprano Rebecca Outram, contralto Alexandra Gibson, tenor David Brown and bass James Gower.
Handel's Messiah follows on from their Christmas concert in Warwick.
The concert takes place in the Levi Fox Hall on Sunday at 7.30pm.
Tickets priced £15, £10 and £5 for students are available on 01789 840329 or from the Tourist Information Centre on Bridgefoot on 0870 1607930.
