A WORCESTERSHIRE-wide vision for waste management over the next 30 years has been drawn up with input from Wyre Forest District Council.
The district, which aims to recycle 10 per cent of its waste in 2003-04, rising to 18 per cent the following year, has helped devise Worcestershire County Council's Joint Municipal Waste Strategy.
It was compiled by the county council's Waste Forum and contains principles, policies and targets that all of Worcestershire's district councils have signed up to.
The views of other organisations, interest groups and randomly selected householders are being sought in a public consultation exercise running until May 7.
Most of the county's waste is landfilled and the aim of the strategy is to reduce this to no more than 22 per cent by 2015.
The county council's Waste Forum chairman, Councillor John Smith, said: "Waste is growing at an alarming rate. The annual cost of dealing with it is £22 million and rising.
"We have to make tough decisions to tackle the problem. A key element is to reduce the amount of waste produced by recycling and composting more."
