TEN people plus two dogs rambled around Powick last Thursday morning. Having met at the lay-by near old Powick Bridge, members of Powick Ramblers crossed the bridge to look at the two commemorative stones marking the battles of the Civil War of the 17th Century which took place there. Footpaths were followed across Powick Hams, along the narrow lane onto Dawes Hill, onto Kings End Lane, past Spider Cottage, with its thatched roof over the footpaths and small tree, to the stile opposite Powick playing field. On to the Old Malvern Road, over the A449 and back to the old bridge. Peter Harris, parish footpath officer, noted any stiles in need of repair, and fixed way marker signs to the fences.   more...
