ST JAMES' CHURCH: It has been decided to have a break from tradition this year and hold a pancake evening on Shrove Tuesday instead of soup lunch on Ash Wednesday. The social committee have found that the soup lunch has not been very well supported on that date over the past few years and feel that their usual effort for charity (The Children's Society) might produce better results if given a new look. To this end, it was intended to serve a variety of pancakes in the village hall starting at 6pm on the evening of Tuesday, February 24. Unfortunately, because of some difficulty arising in the booking of the village hall, the venue has had to be changed and the pancake evening will be held in the church itself. The early evening time has been chosen with children in mind and if you can subscribe to this unusual but worthwhile event by coming along to church as a family to treat yourselves to pancakes, then you are urged to do so. We need your support to make this a success. Please come. more...
