From the archive, first published Wednesday 18th Feb 2004.

YOUNGSTERS from the 5th Worcester Sea Scouts got a chance to look around a Navy helicopter as it paid a flying visit to the city yesterday.

Naval rew from HMS Southampton set the Mark 3 Navy Lynx helicopter down at West Mercia police's headquarters in Hindlip, Worcester, yesterday morning.

About 14 sea scouts from the group, based at Park View Terrace in Claines, Worcester, had a chance to sit in the helicopter and look around it.

Naval officers were also on hand to answer questions and the youngsters were given various gifts including posters and pens and pencils.

The visit was organised by Petty Officer Russ Moseley of the Lynx flight of HMS Southampton, who lives in Worcester during the weekends and is also one of the leaders of the group.

"It was very good and all of the children seemed to enjoy it," he said.

The scout group, which is open to boys and girls aged 10 to 14 years old, is looking for more members. Anyone interested should contact leader Hannah Male on 01905 763964.
