A good turn out of players, vice presidents and friends attended the AGM of Avoncroft Cricket Club in January. They heard very positive reports of the 2002 season from captains Paul Athey and Martin Cound and from Pete Whitehead. The Saturday First XI had performed particularly well, only just missing out on promotion. Dave "Crockett" James had a particularly outstanding season with both bat and ball.   more...

Postcards given to hospice shop

OLD sepia postcards are among items of stationery donated by Tenbury Press to the Hospice Shop. The cards, from the world famous Frith Collection, feature St. Mary's Church in Tenbury and various other churches in the Teme Valley and are up for sale at a bargain 25p each. Shop manager Trixie Greenly is delighted with the gift, which also includes a wide range of greeting cards. She said: "We rely on donations."   more...

New bus shelter outside hospital

A NEW bus shelter is to be installed outside Tenbury Hospital following an agreement between Worcestershire Health and Passenger Transport Group. However, passengers visiting Worcestershire Royal Hospital will still need to change buses. Discussions are continuing with operators Yarrington Bros of Eardiston Garage, to try and get an extra journey in the evenings and maintenance of the shelter is expected to be undertaken by Burford Parish Council on behalf of South Shropshire District Council.   more...
