THE bells of Christ Church, Malvern, could fall silent forever if permission is granted to remove them.
The church in Avenue Road has submitted an application to the Diocese of Worcester, asking for official permission to take down the two bells, which have not been rung for many years.
The vicar, Rev Peter Furber, said they had not been used during his time at the church.
He said: "The framework supporting the two bells is in such a bad state that we think it would be better from a health and safety point of view if the bells were removed.
"As soon as we get the necessary legal permission, we shall take them down."
