MAY I respond to Jed King, who clearly does not share my Christian belief and whose own short-sighted claims and suggestions needs straightening out (You Say, Friday, October 31) before I accept his offer.
First, the God in which I believe is not the white-haired, bearded old man figure that is usually depicted by the classical artists. Nor is he the God over which people throughout the centuries have waged war.
My God cannot possibly be contained, pigeonholed or offended in any way, shape or form. Eternal, is possibly the nearest way I can describe Him.
Secondly, it may surprise Mr King, but as a Christian, I too, subscribe to the scrupulous and sound scientific evidence. However, my so-called leap of faith in a God stems from the fact that science has nothing to offer on the period prior to the Big Bang.
The Big Bang theory, which set the evolution process into being, is a plausible one.
But who or what caused the Big Band in the first place? Now, while the scientists scratch their heads for an explanation, I will remain believing in the eternal God, creator of all things known and unknown.
L SPITERI,
Worcester.
