Pilgrim on trail of complex story

From the archive, first published Friday 7th Nov 2003.

THE life of a celebrated preacher and the journey of a lifetime are the focus of two new plays coming to Worcestershire this month.

Saving Grace is the story of a journalist who sets out on a private pilgrimage to research the life of John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement. He discovers a story more complex than he could ever have imagined.

The play commemorates 300th anniversary of John Wesley's birth and comes to Malvern Priory Church on Wednesday.

The second play, The Fun of The Fair, also follows a character on a life changing journey. With £5,000 in her suitcase, Mrs Reynolds is packed off halfway across the world on a quest to help the poor, only to find that things are not quite as she imagined they would be. But as events unfold, she finds friends, comedy and enterprise in her new situation.

It will be at Perrins Hall, The Royal Grammar School, Worcester on November 19.

The plays are being toured by The Riding Lights Theatre Company. To book tickets for either play, call 0845 9613000.
