Play's Irish idyll not all it seems

NOT the National Theatre will presenting The Beauty Queen of Leenane at the Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury.

The award-winning play started life in Dublin in 1996, before transferring to The Royal Court in London and then Broadway.

In rural Ireland, Maureen Foley dreams of breaking away from her elderly mother and sees a chance with a fling with an attractive neighbour. But her mother had other ideas. The company is part-way through a national tour and will be at Tewkesbury on Wednesday (November 12), at 7.30pm. Tickets are £9 (£8 concs) on 01684 295074.
