West Malvern Parish Council is up to its full strength of seven members once again, following the decision to co-opt two new councillors at the June meeting last Monday. The co-options became necessary after the May election had produced only six candidates for seven seats, all of whom were therefore automatically elected, and one of whom resigned immediately following the poll. The new councillors are Ellie Harnden and Peter Vant. Ellie was a member of the previous council, and as the mother of three young children is much involved with the village school and the Leapfrogs and Toddlers groups. She has also represented West Malvern on the inter-parish transport group which is working to set up an improved evening bus service. This allowed members to take lunch at their favourite places and enjoy Minehead during the two hour stay. The journey was then taken in reverse arriving home at 8pm. Twenty three people were on the trip, which was thoroughly enjoyable. This was due to Mr Gerald Draper, whose enthusiasm and superb organisation were much appreciated.   more...
