West Malvern has a new parish clerk. He is Shrewsbury-born David Sharp, appointed last week to succeed Pauline Striplin who resigned in August after taking on a full time job. David has lived in Malvern for six years after spending 20 years in London. He is a retained fireman, based at the station in Malvern Link and lives in Farley Road with his wife Ginny, who teaches at Callow End, and their three children, the eldest of whom attends the Chase School and the other two Malvern Link Primary. David is also clerk to the parishes of Little Malvern & Welland and Madresfield, so brings useful previous experience to his job at West Malvern. He can be contacted on Malvern 573213. He was in attendance at Monday's parish council meeting, when thanks were expressed to Malvern Wells clerk Susan Hughes for acting as interim clerk.   more...

IT is with regret that I write of the passing of Mrs Frances May Bundy who died peacefully in Tewkesbury Hospital at the age of 86. Mrs Bundy came to Eldersfield at the age of 20 and lived at Moorend House. She will be remembered by many, especially former pupils of Corse School where she was dinner lady for many years. She was also mother's help to all the local doctor's children, Dr W Wilson, Dr T Bradford and Dr W Cuthbertson. She will be sadly missed by all her family to whom we offer our sincere sympathy, her son Leslie and his wife Valerie, her daughter Gladys and her husband Archie. She was much loved grandmother to Louise, Claire and Duncan and her four great grandsons. She was laid to rest in Eldersfield Churchyard following the funeral service.   more...

LAST Friday evening at the village hall, approximately 76 people attended the harvest supper. Entertainment was provided by Carl Attwood. On the following Sunday morning a children's harvest and communion service took place at St James' Church. Gifts brought were later to be auctioned and non-perishable gifts sent to Romania. Following the service a young families lunch was held in the Ale House. In the evening a harvest Churches Together in Colwall evensong took an unexpected turn when a power cut plunged St James' Church into darkness.   more...
